State Farm lowballs clients and plays the odds.
Hello:
I am a licensed adjuster and investigator in Oregon, and decades ago was a staff adjuster with Liberty Mutual Insurance. I do only workers' compensation ,employment, and general liability investigation in my current referrals but often hear of methods used by insurers and defense counsel on personal injury claims and general liability issues.
My wife and myself recently sustained damage to a small area of our hardwood floors when the carpet cleaning service employee let liquid go from the rug onto the floor while attempting to remove a stain from a area rug..
The estimates to repair the floor ranged from 3900-4200, not including lodging expense to be out of the residence for two or three nights. State Farm initially offered $1900. deducting $2100 for depreciation and not mentioning any amount for lodging. The case was recently settled for $3970.
My conclusion is that insurance companies will offer lowball figures assuming they will settle a certain percentage at that low figure.

How many of you out there have systematically had your insurance claims denied by AFI, for something you should have been covered for? Very curious to know about any patterns.

On 12/9/05 my wife and I were hit by a 22 year old female driver insured by American Family Insurance. Our car was totaled. She has admitted full liability to us, and her insurance company. She was ticketed by the police.

My fiance, was driving in the center lane of a one-way road when she was struck by a truck who "didn't see her" (and two other cars). The truck driver amazingly was not issued a citation, however the police report noted his failure to yield.

I was a pedestrian in a walkway with a light and was hit by a Jeep Cherokee and the vehicle was insured through American Family Insurance. I have had to file a civil lawsuit against the driver and the insurance company and they have refused to pay any of my medical bills. This lawsuit has been going on for three years. I now live in Paris France and have married a French man and am now covered by insurance and thank God it is paying for my medical bills.

On September 20, 2002 my daughter was involved in a 4 car accident. Our 1998 Neon was the second of three vehicles stopped in traffic. The accident was caused by an American Falmiy insured person who rear ended the third vehicle which casued a chain reaction damaging all three stopped vehicles.

I was involved in an accident on Dec. 22 with an individual with AFI. He was not paying attention and rear-ended me. He assumed responsibility and we proceeded to exchange info while the police, fire, and paramedics were in route.

In August of 2001 I was stopped in traffic. The car behind me failed to stop ,as he admitted to me he was looking at the police officer in a parking lot, and rear ended me. My car was less than 5 months old when this happened. I suffered whiplash and was treated by a chiropractor.

March 16, 2007 - Bogus charge and company
I was given a quote after all their investigating, paid the premium, and then the policy came with an additional premium due. State Farm was non-responsive when I asked what was going on. Just like all the people of MS have found out, this company is bogus beyond belief.

March 16, 2007 - Auto Accident with another State Farm insured
I was recently involved in a car accident in a parking lot; the lady that hit me was also a State Farm insured. The car accident occurred on the week of Thanksgiving, so it was very busy in the parking lot at the grocery store.

I have had my home and car insured with State Farm for 10 years, and a rental property and a second car for 2 + years. I have paid more than $3000.00 per year in total insurance premiums to State Farm.

March 16, 2007 - Claims Service Is EXTREMELY POOR
A lady hit my car while it was parked in front of my house, lucky noone was injured otherwise with the State Farms poor claim service, that person would have died from the run around.

March 16, 2007 - Beware "coverage" of rental cars by your Insurance Company
I am currently unable to get affordable car insurance (less than $1500 per year) because of a chipped windsheild. State Farm (and potentially all insurers in Minnesota) code ANY claim on a rental car as PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY, and it therefore appears on your record as an AT-Fault accident.

March 16, 2007 - Outragious cancellation fees
I had my auto policy with State Auto for many years. This year's policy was from 8/1/06-8/1/07. I paid my dues monthly. I found another less expensive insurance company and cancelled my State Auto policy as of 9/15/06.

March 16, 2007 - Dishonest and very unhelpful company
Very dissapointed with the service. My car gets broken into on a Saturday morning, State Farm would not do anything until Monday because they had to report the break in to the Stereo Division since my stereo was stolen.

March 16, 2007 - Nationwide big slogan small to zero services
Nationwide slogan is on your side should be more like stuck on your side...
I had a car insurance policy in FL where I lived for about one year, then I relocate to MD and switch to a MD Nationwide policy where they double charged me!! YES DOUBLE CHARGED...not only my monthly premium increased, there was a transfer fee of $199 and they wanted me to pay from previous months the increased premium rate...
Anyway as this would not be enough...the fun part starts now...trying to switch to another company.

Nationwide Insurance companies slogan is that "Nationwide is on your side", well that is an outright fabrication. I have been with them for over nine years claim free with my homeowners insurance.

In April of 2003, I had a small fender bender in a parking lot, and the woman demanded it be reported to my insurance. My insurance company was well aware of the accident yet never changed the policy when it was renewed in May and then again it November.

My son was backed into by a young kid who was talking on his cellphone and blaring his music. H e never looked back. He hit the passanger side front door and made a big dent one which that could not be banged out.

I WENT TO ALL STATE TO GET MY CHILD EXCLUDED FROM MY INSURANCE BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD THE PAYMENT ANY MORE AND I WAS TOLD THAT I COULDN'T EXCLUDE MY CHILD BECAUSE HE LIVE WITH ME AND HAVE A DRIVERS LICENSE.

March 16, 2007 - Passive Harassment
Three weeks ago a driver darted out direcly in front of me as I was traveling on a state highway. I was driving north as he pulled out of a parking lot on my right (East) side. He was attempting to make a left hand turn and didn't look in my direction. As he stomped on his accelerator of his Dodge 1 ton truck all I could do was hit my horn and jam on the brakes. My beloved car was totalled. Rumor has it he is driving a NEW truck. After jumping thru all their hoops (with my many injuries) still no transportation or offer of help in any form.

Secure Horizons
I have Secure Horizons. I find them very fair and I had no problems with them.. I have one surgery "small" and a colonsoscopy and have good feelings about them
geico car insurance
Has anyone, anything to say about geico insurance car or home? Bad or good. We live in Oregon. Pleae let us know. Also in the line of insurance does anyone have Secure Horizon medicare d plan? How do you like it, and have you had any problems with them? Thank you.
